The MLCCS was founded in 2014 as a result of scientific hybrid vigor between experienced researchers with a solid background in microbiology (Ray and Dave) and hungry post doc fellows willing to take their experience in modern lipidomics to the next level (Matthias and Marcos). The MLCCS may be best described today as a joint venture between friendship and daily scientific brainstorming via skype – what we call snipin’. As a matter of fact, snipin' is perhaps the most effective way to keep up with literature review and data discussion. After our first international meeting in 2014, we have decided to get together at least once a year for a couple of weeks to wrap up manuscripts in preparation and to identify priority targets for research. Thanks to Cindy (Ray’s partner), these meetings – mostly held at the MLCCS headquarters in Davis, CA (USA) – have been very successful in that they gather both joy and hard work. Given its small number of members, the MLCCS welcomes partners that are broadly interested in lipid decoding.
